Welcome to Kōkeʻe Lodge, a historic lodge founded in 1950 and lovingly restored over generations for today’s travelers. Nestled in the cool Kanaloahuluhulu meadow of Kōkeʻe State Park, our lodge celebrates Hawaiʻi’s natural beauty and local heritage through a farm-to-table restaurant, a locally inspired gift shop, a cozy café, and rustic mountain cabin rentals. We work with over 50+ local farmers, fisherman, and purveyors to bring a farm to table experience to the mountain.
Cabin Rentals
Our cabins provide guests with a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Hawaiʻi’s State Parks—Kōkeʻe and Waimea Canyon. This region is recognized as one of the island’s greatest treasures, offering visitors unmatched access to scenic landscapes and cultural heritage.
The “Kōkeʻe experience” is often described as unparalleled. Hiking conditions are ideal, trail access is convenient, and the vistas are simply extraordinary. Combined with the rich cultural significance of the area, a stay here offers not just recreation, but a meaningful connection with the land.
Please note that these are authentic mountain cabins, located at elevations above 3,000 feet. Temperatures here are typically 20 degrees cooler than at sea level, ranging from 40–70°F in winter and 50–80°F in summer, with occasional colder conditions. Each cabin is equipped with a wood-burning stove, the sole source of heat. High-quality firewood is available for purchase, and many guests enjoy the tradition of building a fire as part of their mountain stay.
Because of the remote forest setting, encounters with native wildlife, lush vegetation, and varying trail conditions are to be expected. The proximity to one of the wettest locations on Earth results in breathtaking greenery, but also natural elements such as moss, slick soil, and fallen branches. These features are part of the authentic environment that makes Kōkeʻe unique.
